What is My Why?
I chose design because it’s the best way I can make a positive impact on people and my community.
My goal is to use design thinking methodology as an equalizer; a force for good that can help level up the built environments and experiences of underserved and under-resourced folks.
I’ve always been a problem solver, driven to understand the reasons behind people’s behaviors and choices. These traits, in addition to my natural curiosity and empathy, are what drives my design practice forward. Unsurpringly, they also brought me success in my previous career - real estate.
I was a successful broker and sales agent in New York City. I led agents, built teams, and was a leader, mentor and top producing agent over the course of a 15-year career. I learned a lot and shared what I knew with those around me.
When it was time to pivot, my experience in the industry granted me a unique perspective and I recognized an opportunity to use design thinking to improve the spaces and services I had been privileged to work in and near while working as a broker.
Why Design Management
I choose to pursue a graduate degree in Design Management in 2019 because it was the natural progression of skills I developed over 15 years as a real estate broker.
Design Management is a broad multidisciplinary practice that combines research, data collection, analysis, synthesis, creativity, business and strategy to produce insightful and innovative deliverables that add meaningful and user-centric value.
